Vision

The vision of Shaheed Shamsuzzoha Institute of Biosciences is to establish itself as a center of excellence with social commitment by integrating modern, scientific, and technological knowledge and skills with the basic human ethos and values. Its scholastic activities cover all the domains of agricultural sciences having a direct bearing on terrestrial and aquatic productivity. Fostering quality teaching and research that develop highly skilled and educated people necessary to advancing the well-being of the nation in general and farming communities in particular.

The main task of the Institute is to tone up the quality and standard of higher agricultural education and to produce first-rate agriculturists, agricultural scientists, and researchers for shouldering the responsibilities of agricultural development of the country.

Mission

The mission of Shaheed Shamsuzzoha Institute of Biosciences is based upon the firm belief that agricultural education, particularly higher education provides a critical pathway to leadership development in academic and research fields as well as in achieving sustainable agricultural development, and socio-economic progress of the country. Presently, SSIB is offering undergraduate programs through a course credit system intending to produce researchers, academicians, and field-level extension specialists in the field of agriculture to deal with issues like food production, poverty, hunger alleviation, and food security.

The missions of SSIB are to develop the art and science of agriculture for the well-being of mankind, to educate agriculturists of high standards of scientific, managerial, and professional competence in harmony with the environment, and to share knowledge and skills with world partners.

The working missions of the Institute are:

To advance and share knowledge, discover solutions, and promote opportunities in food and agriculture, bioenergy, health, the environment, and human well-being. To offer accessible quality training, research, and innovation to produce leaders in the fields of Agriculture, Built Environment, Sciences, and other Applied Sciences to suit the needs of a dynamic world.

To provide higher learning in all branches of agricultural sciences as a profession-based education;

To conduct basic and applied research in various aspects of agricultural problems faced by farmers, change agents, and agro-industrialists to recommend possible measures for solving them;

To organize and supervise extension and related nation-building activities at different levels and in different forms;

To provide facilities for bilateral and multilateral cooperation and collaboration with institutes or organizations within and outside Bangladesh. Contributing to society through the pursuit of agricultural education, research, and innovation for sustainable development.

To provide an education consistent with international standards through well-designed academic programs.

To conduct basic and applied research to generate appropriate and sustainable technologies in the different fields of agriculture.

To disseminate and transfer generated technologies to the end users through training and outreach activities.

To provide policy support focusing on local and national issues within the national agricultural research framework with emphasis on food and nutrition securities of the country.
